The Philosophy
If there is a difference between a shop and a space, LUNA & L'ALTRA makes that evident, offering the eye a poetic respite from pervasive consumerism.
Perhaps it’s because the proprietors, Biba and Luigi, know how to give maximum expression to the labels they present in their space —Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Martin Margiela, Dries Van Noten, Limi feu, Rick Owens, Haat, Final Home, and others — or because Biba and Luigi, through desire more than need, have chosen to continuously exhibit these giants of fashion and culture in the most beautiful way possible.
Founded in 1983, LUNA & L'ALTRA has represented, and continues to represent exclusively in Rome, such names as Dries Van Noten and the various lines of Issey Miyake (Pleats Please, A-Poc) —choosing fashions that are always contemporary but never "of the moment,” wedding them to an Italian culture that must be expressed with thoughtful elegance.
And it is not by chance that the two proprietors have adopted two diverse mottoes:
“Dress badly and one sees the clothes. Dress well and one sees the woman.
– Coco Chanel
“l’eleganza è trasformare la massima espressione dell’essere in apparenza.”
– Jean-Paul Sartre
